In the lead up to the Louis Vuitton 35th Americas Cup World Series, the Whitfield Group was contracted to provide marketing, design and event solutions for the VIP and sponsor centre and the international media centre and provided consultation in other aspects to the America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA).
Working with local architects and construction specialists, Whitfield produced a design solution that met the needs of the ACEA team, providing architectural and engineering drawings of concept solution for a 130ft deck overlooking Hamilton Harbour.
This never seen before solution was built out of timber and constructed in less than 10 days to meet the tight deadlines for the America’s Cup World Series. VIP guests were able to mingle on the deck and could watch the events of the World Series from a prime viewing platform.
The platform extended from the PIER 6 venue on Front St, in Hamilton, Bermuda and following the event, the deck remained in situ for further events. Its beauty, uniqueness and versatility, combined with its central location at PIER 6, became so popular that it became one of the most booked event spaces in Bermuda at that time.
